YouthBuild, Our Kind of Heroes

Whenever I have a bad day I realize that my problems are quite small and there are a lot of brilliant, hardworking people out there doing good things and getting no recognition. I make a point of looking at at least one cool person or organization a day. It really helps a lot.

Youthbuild USA  is one of those organizations. I’m very happy I discovered them via the John Skoll Foundation.

YouthBuild USA is an organization working on solutions. They believe in life.

In YouthBuild programs, low-income young people ages 16–24 work toward their GED or high school diploma while learning job skills by building affordable housing for homeless and low-income people. Strong emphasis is placed on leadership development and community service.

We should support these kinds of programs, right? They do good things!

And in the end, the graduates’ lives, hopefully better, and definitely empowered, makes all the effort worth it.
